Very rich, fruity and alcoholic (14.5%) it is renowned as Italy's biggest and most unique red wine. Produced in only 5 delimited communes in Valpolicella Classico, it is unique due to its special winemaking technique "appassimento":
before pressing the bunches of grapes are dried for 4 months on tiered mats in airy lofts where they lose at least 30% of their original weight, which highly concentrates the fruit and aromas.

Ruby in the glass with an opulent nose of ripe dark cherries, liquorice, violets and the vanilla from oak maturation. This is plummy in style with ripe rounded fruit and spice on the palate. Has very good structure and acidity, and the tannins are finely grained. Will keep well.
